Hundreds Of Houses In The Babel National Building Were Submerged By Floods

PANGKALPINANG - As many as 400 houses in the National Building Village, Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung Islands were flooded, due to heavy rains accompanied by high tides

"The flood began to occur around 12.00 WIB," said Head of RW-01, Andi National Building Village in Pangkalpinang, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 15.

The height of the flood water that submerged hundreds of houses was about 30-60 centimeters. The flood was caused by heavy rains plus high tides.

"It is estimated that the water level will continue to increase, because heavy rains continue to pour until this afternoon," he said.

The head of the BPBD for the Babel Islands Province, Mikron Antariksa, while reviewing flood victims, said that in the last three days it had continued to rain and this was in accordance with the weather forecast issued by the BMKG.

"We urge the public to be more careful in facing the current weather conditions, because of heavy rain accompanied by high tides," he said.

According to him, heavy rainfall plus high tide will result in higher water discharge.

"We urge the public to be aware of the rain for more than an hour and evacuate their valuables to a safer place," he said.
