Anies Claims Not To Be Supported By Mafia: They Don't Want Change

Presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan claims his candidacy with vice presidential candidate Muhaimin Iskandar in the 2024 presidential election is not supported by the mafia.

Because, according to Anies, the narrative of the changes that Anies brought in his vision and mission did not match the wishes of the mafia.

"Well, the mafias don't want to change, that's why they never want to support (the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs) number 1," Anies said at Anies' Desak event in Ambon, Maluku, Monday, January 15.

Anies emphasized that if he and Cak Imin were supported by the mafia, his campaign activities would be more facilitated. "Well, this is all simple, because of the people's struggles, by the people everywhere," he continued.

Anies then revealed one of his campaign promises that would conflict with the mafia if it was implemented. Anies said he would build a national fish lumbukh in Maluku.

"God willing, we will carry out the national fish barn. Then, this will face all kinds of mafias," said Anies.

Anies said that the national fish barn had actually been promised to be built by the government. However, until now the project has not been implemented. Therefore, Anies will take this promise so that the local community can improve their economic condition.

"God willing, it will be fulfilled so that the economy in Maluku based on fishery power can actually happen, and policies that do not provide flexibility for small fishermen to grow, for example, area restrictions for fishing, many local actors cannot carry out fishery activities optimally," he added.
