This Is The Step Of The Minister Of Industry Agus Gumiwang To Improve Indonesia's Manufacturing Performance In 2024

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is trying to continue to improve the performance of the manufacturing industry in 2024 amid the challenges of global geoeconomic and geopolitical impacts.

Because, so far, the manufacturing industry has become the backbone in supporting national economic growth.

In order to target these targets, the Ministry of Industry focuses on implementing various priority programs in 2024.

For example, competency-based vocational education and training programs, machine and/or equipment restructuring programs for small and medium industry players (IKM) as well as new entrepreneurial growth programs and technology-based startup IKM development.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry will strive to increase added value and industrial competitiveness through the Domestic Component Level certification program (TKDN), continuing downstream natural resources in three sectors, namely agro-based industries, mining and mineral-based industries and oil and coal-based industries.

"We will also implement a government assistance program for the purchase of a new two-wheeled battery-based electric motorized vehicle (KBLBB), the development of industrial estates, and facilitation of green industry certification," said Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in a written statement received by VOI, Monday, January 15.

Minister of Industry Agus claims that throughout 2023 his party has managed the manufacturing industry well so that growth continues to increase.

"This should be our focus and concern together in the future," he said.

Agus said the important role of the national manufacturing industry was reflected in its largest contribution to national GDP, reaching 16.83 percent in the third quarter of 2023.

In the same period, the growth of the manufacturing industry penetrated 5.02 percent or was able to surpass the national economic growth which was at 4.94 percent.

"The manufacturing industry is also consistently the largest contributor to our export value. In the January-November (2023) period, the export of manufactured products still dominates with a value of more than 171.23 billion US dollars," he said.

Thus, based on the report safeguardglobal.com, Indonesia is said to be on the list of the top 10 contributors to world manufacturing products, which are also the only ASEAN country on the list.

Based on the publication, Indonesia contributed 1.4 percent to global manufacturing products.

This prestigious position is a significant increase.

Because, four years ago Indonesia was still in 16th position.

Along with the hope of improving global conditions and the national economy, Agus said, his party is optimistic that the performance of the manufacturing industry will be even higher in the Kayu Dragon Year.

"We project that the growth of the non-oil and gas processing industry in 2023 will be 4.81 percent, and we set a 2024 target of 5.80 percent," he added.
