Dakota Kemayoran Flats Prone To Thieves, Residents Call The Perpetrators Wearing Ojol Jackets

The perpetrators of motorcycle theft using the attributes of online motorcycle taxi jackets (ojol) have launched their actions again at Dakota Flats, Kemayoran District, Central Jakarta. According to local residents, the theft with the same mode has occurred for 5 times in different locations.

"In the Dakota Flats, motorcycle theft is rife. Previously there had been 4 motorcycle thefts in 2023. Now, in 2024, again, there was the theft of a motorbike, one was stolen," said Head of RT Rusun Dakota 1, Heni Purwati to reporters, Monday, January 15.

According to Heni, the theft of a motorbike with the same perpetrator has occurred for the second time in two months. Meanwhile, the perpetrators also carried out their actions in other RTs in the Dakota Kemayoran Flat area.

"In my RT, it's been the second time. Yesterday it was November, the date and time were the same. One of the perpetrators wore an ojol jacket. They took action at half past 6 because the stalls were still quiet and no one had opened it," he said.

Meanwhile, Arif (38), a victim of theft, admitted that he did not expect that he would lose a motorbike in the area where his family had been living for more than 30 years.

Based on his confession, he realized that his automatic motorbike was no longer in the parking area on Saturday, January 13, 2023, when he was about to leave for work. Arif also confirmed the whereabouts of his motorbike via CCTV from the local RT. He was surprised to see his motorbike missing by the thief on Saturday, January 13, 2023 at 05.26 WIB, based on surveillance camera footage.

"After I made it clear what happened via CCTV, they (motorcycle thieves) initially saw the situation, then finally one of the perpetrators was taken down by a friend who was wearing an ojol jacket in front of the RT secretariat office," he said.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kemayoran Police, AKP Fauzan, said that his party was conducting an investigation based on evidence of CCTV clues and information from the victim.

"Last night we were there to process the crime scene (TKP)," said AKP Fauzan when confirmed, Monday, January 15.

The police have conducted crime scene investigations, as well as collected evidence and statements from witnesses for the theft that has occurred more than five times in the area.
