After Vietnam, Brunei Becomes Jokowi's Target For Investment In IKN

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) explained the investment opportunities of the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) to a number of entrepreneurs who are members of a consortium of investors in Brunei Darussalam, after previously inviting Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the new capital city. "I want to tell you about the capital city of Nusantara. This is a strategic agenda of Indonesia and part of the mission of Indonesia Gold 2045 that has been approved by parliament, made a law that is approved by 93% of the vote," said President Jokowi through the Presidential Secretariat published in Jakarta, Sunday, January 14. In the agenda of meeting with entrepreneurs at Aassarraa Guest House, Begawan Series Bandar, Saturday night, January 13, the President said that IKN was built as a forest city with smart technology support. According to President Jokowi, 70% of the area is designated as a green area and 80% is green energy-based public transportation. "This is a commitment to continue to protect Kalimantan-Borneo Island as a world lung that benefits the community, as well as creating a new economic magnet," he said. Furthermore, President Jokowi said that the development progress of the IKN core area has reached 70% and is targeted to be completed in mid-2024. In addition, currently there are also many incoming investments and start infrastructure development marked by groundbreaking. "There are 13 that have grounded, there are three hospitals, five hotels, and there are two malls, there are training centers for football, there are also green transportation, and including Nusantara Superblock in an integrated area with five-star hotels, entertainment venues, and shopping centers," he said. The president hopes that entrepreneurs from Brunei Darussalam can realize their interest in investing in IKN. The President said that the government has prepared a number of incentives for investors at IKN in the form of a super tax deduction, tax holidays, to the release of import duties. "I hope that investment interest from Your Highness can be realized immediately. Thank you," he said.

After the meeting, a letter of interest was handed over by a consortium of investors, conducted by Putri Amal Rakiah to the Head of the IKN Authority, Bambang Susantono.Turut accompanies President Jokowi, namely Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Member of Wantimpres Gandi Sulistiyanto, Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Achmad Ubaedillah.
