Garut Bawaslu Check Satpol PP Members Who Make Content Support Gibran

GARUT - The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Garut Regency, West Java began to examine 13 members of the Garut Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) in stages related to the alleged non-neutrality in the 2024 General Election for making a video supporting the candidate for vice president (cawapres) number 2 Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"Now it has started, only two people have been divided into two teams to ask for information," said Head of Garut Bawaslu Ahmad Nurul Syahid on the sidelines of the examination by members of the Garut Satpol PP at the Garut Bawaslu office, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 10.

He said that Bawaslu Garut was following up on public reports and findings in the field related to a video of a number of members of the Garut Satpol PP who stated that they were supporting the vice presidential candidate number 2.

The case, he said, was then discussed at the Integrated Law Enforcement Center (Gakkumdu) which determined that there was a potential for criminal violation of the 2024 General Election, so that an examination of the person in the video was carried out.

The examination process for members of the Garut Satpol PP was carried out in stages, while five people underwent examination, then five people the following day, and finally three people.

"Now five people are being investigated, tomorrow five, then the last three people," he said.

The examination includes the veracity of members of the Satpol PP in the video, then the use of government facilities to make videos stating that they are not neutral.

In addition, he continued, regarding the neutrality of ASN, including checking their employment status in the Garut Satpol PP institution.

"Until today, we are in the process of studying, and this will also ask for information, one of which is to confirm their status," he said.

After all members of the Garut Satpol PP are examined for completion, then an examination of the Head of the Garut Satpol PP will be carried out for questioning regarding the case of his subordinates.

Furthermore, the Garut Bawaslu will discuss it again with the prosecutor's office and the police who are members of the Garut Gakkumdu Center to follow up on the legal handling of the case.

"After everything is done, we will discuss it with the prosecutor's office, the police who are members of the Gakkumdu," he said.

Previously, a 19-second video circulated showing a number of members of the Garut Satpol PP stating that they were supportive of the vice presidential candidate Gibran spread across a number of social media and WhatsApp Groups of the Garut community.
