Anies Promises To Overcome Kendari Workers' Wage Issues Like In Jakarta

Presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan promised to overcome the problem of workers' wages in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, in the way he did when he was Governor of DKI Jakarta.

He said this was to respond to complaints about wages from one of the workers in Kendari who worked in the mining industry. According to Anies, the policy regarding labor wages is the effect of the Omnibus Law by the central government.

"As governor, I received orders from the central government, but I don't want to sign it. I don't want to sign regulations that don't provide justice," Anies said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 9.

Anies in the 2024 presidential election campaign held a dialogue with workers, fishermen, and farmers in Wakop Bakrie, Kendari, where he told about his efforts to deal with the provincial minimum wage (UMP) problem in Jakarta.

At that time, according to him, the Jakarta UMP was originally due to increase by an average of eight percent. Even so, according to him, the Omnibus Law caused the wage increase to only 0.8 percent.

"Finally, what is it? I use DKI Jakarta's special authority and make policies so that the salary increase becomes 5.1 percent," he added.

The presidential candidate, which is supported by a combination of political parties from the Change Coalition, said that his track record in Jakarta could be proof of commitment to the people and be an indicator for the people to assess potential leaders.

Previously, a worker in Kendari complained to Anies that the wage increase was only Rp. 31,707. Then at the same time, the central government issued a regulation that all employees were taxed.
