Sony's New Spatial Headset Will Support The Development Of The Metaverse Industry

JAKARTA - Sony Corporations announced the development of a spatial content creation system, which includes an XR screen behind the head equipped with an OLED 4K Microdisplays.

Announced during CES 2024, the system is aimed at supporting content creators in sophisticated 3D content creation. Sony also plans to collaborate with a 3D production software developer.

When launched at the end of 2024, Sony is exclusively partnering with Siemens, a leader in industrial technology, to introduce this new solution using software from open digital business platform Siemens Xcelerator.

"Together, we created an environment that allows to experience the reality of physics, indefinitely to improve the way our customers are in depth. working and collaborating," said Cedrik Neike, Member of the Siemens AG Implementing Board and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries.

Sony and Siemens said they would announce further details including launch specifications, date and region, prices, sales channels, and software compatibility in the near future.

Main Feature

To be sure, this device is equipped with the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 Platform, the latest XR processor from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. with a head-mounted XR screen, as well as the 4K OLED Microdisplay and Sony's rendering technology, which allows real-time rendering of 3D object textures and facial expressions of human character.

In addition to the see-through video function and spatial recognition with a total of six cameras and sensors, the system is equipped with a ring controller that allows users to manipulate objects in virtual space intuitively.

Creators can not only see real-scale 3D models in Extended Reality (XR) environments with a high-definition display, but also create and modify 3D models in them.

Through integration with third-party 3D creation applications, it also supports remote and real-time inter-location reviews, making them an intuitive and in-depth tool for the entire spatial content creation process.
