JAKARTA - The Sitanala Water Processing Installation (IPA) located in Karangsari Village, Neglasari District, Tangerang City, Banten was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Monday, January 8.
During the inauguration, President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Hadi Tjahjanto, Acting Governor of Banten Al Muktabar and Acting Regent of Lebak Iwan Kurniawan.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the Drinking Water Management System (SPAM) service is prioritized to meet domestic needs so that people can enjoy quality drinking water at affordable prices, sustainable for 24 hours and improve public health improvements.
"Fulfilling the need for drinking water is one of the government's priority programs in addition to sanitation, especially to deal with stunting or growth disorders in toddlers due to lack of clean water and sanitation," Basuki said in a written statement received by VOI, Tuesday, January 9.
Meanwhile, Director General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR Diana Kusumastuti said, IPA Sitanala was built by the Directorate General of Human Settlements through the Banten Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW), to serve clean water needs located in the Tangerang zone area, namely 4 sub-districts in Tangerang, namely Cibodas, Jatiuwung, Periuk and Karawaci.
"IPA Sitanala was built on land owned by the Tangerang City Government covering an area of 2.07 ha from August 2021 to June 2023. The number of beneficiaries is around 51,000 SR or serves more than 200 thousand people. Currently, 10,000 SR has been used," he said.

The connection will later be operated through the Tangerang City PDAM, which is currently in good health. "Later it will not stop here, because there will be an additional 500 liters per second capacity that will be built by the Tangerang Government itself. So that the total capacity becomes 1,000 liters per second and is expected to be wider in the service area," said Diana.
Furthermore, said Diana, her party hopes that drinking water services, which are currently only 35 percent in Tangerang, will increase and reach 80 percent.
"Hopefully this SPAM will improve water needs services for the people in Tangerang," he concluded.
The IPA Sitanala construction work was carried out by PT Paesa Pasindo Engineering MP with a total budget of IDR 72.24 billion sourced from the 2021-2023 State Budget Multi Years Contract (MYC).
