Mike McCready Calls Pearl Hours More Heavy Album And Really Guitar
JAKARTA - Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready leaked about the upcoming Seattle grunge legend album. He called the album heavier than fans thought.
Pearl Jam's new album in the process is a follow-up to Gigaton (2020) and McCready provided some details about the album in a recent interview with Classic Rock.
I hope this (album) will be released [in 2024], McCready said. We have a lot of songs. We work with Andrew Watt, a younger pop-producing man, but he's actually a rock man I think we are his favorite band. While we've been in the studio with him over the past year, he's really pushing us, keeping us focused and playing, song after song.
Watt previously worked with Miley Cyrus, Post Malone and Lana Del Rey but also earned credit on other rock artists' albums, including Ozzy Osbourne and Iggy Pop.
"It's much heavier (heavyer) than you might expect," McCready continued. "There's a melody and energy from the first few albums. Andrew pushed us to play as hard, meloss and caring as we've been doing for a long time. I feel Matt Cameron's drum game has elements like he did on Soundgarden.

McCready also promised fans would hear guitar-oriented albums.
"Good or bad, you'll hear more of the main guitar from me, the thing I haven't done for a long time. I went crazy, like with Chris Cornell and our [supergroup] Temple of the Dog on Reach Down, years ago," McCready said.
