Indonesian National Team Arrives In Qatar For Advanced TC

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team has ended the training camp (TC) in Antalya, Turkey. They immediately left for Qatar on January 6, 2024 the day after the test match against Libya.

The Garuda squad arrived in Qatar on Sunday, January 7, 2024, early morning local time or 05.30 WIB. They will undergo further TC there to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup.

Apart from TC, Shin Tae-yong's team also still has one final trial agenda before appearing in the 2023 Asian Cup. They will fight Iran on January 9, 2024.

Shin Tae-yong still brings 28 players to Qatar, just like the TC in Turkey. He has yet to decide on 26 final names to appear in the 2023 Asian Cup.

The plan is for the South Korean coach to make a final decision the day after the test against Iran.

Previously, the Indonesian national team had undergone TC in Turkey since December 21, 2023. They have played two test matches against Libya.

The two match matches ended in defeat. First, the Garuda Squad lost 0-4 (2 January 2024) and the second match lost 1-2 (5 January 2024).

However, Shin Tae-yong didn't really care about the results of the trial. For him, the most important thing is to find a formula to face the 2023 Asian Cup group stage matches.

"Indeed, while in Turkey we had physical training, without being able to practice tactics. So, one day before the match (vs Libya) we just had a short tactical exercise."

"Indeed, in this match (the second trial against Libya) I used a formation to anticipate the opponents of Iraq and all the players worked hard. Apart from the results, I am satisfied with the performance of the players and the team," said Shin Tae-yong.

The Indonesian national team will meet Iraq in the inaugural match of Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup on January 15, 2024. After that, they will meet Vietnam (19/1/2024) and Japan (24/1/2924).
