Update On Train Accident Victims In Cicalengka: 37 Injured, 4 Died
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) said that there were additional injuries from the Turangga train accident (KA) related Surabaya Gubeng-Bandung and Commuterline Bandung Raya at km 181+700 plots of roads between Haurpugur Station-Cicalengka Station on Friday morning, January 5.
Initially, PT KAI said that 28 people were injured in the accident and have now increased to 37 injured.
"Of the total 287 Turangga train passengers and 191 Commuterline trains, around 37 passengers were lightly injured and have been taken to the nearest hospital," said KAI VP Public Relations Joni Martinus in a press release, Friday.
Of the 37 passengers who were injured, 32 people were taken to Cicalengka Hospital, 2 people at Edelweis Hospital. Then, as many as 2 people were taken to AMC Hospital and 1 other person was at Santosa Hospital.
Joni added that four people died in the accident. They are the driver, assistant driver, steward, and security.
"We are deeply saddened by the deaths of four train officers as a result of the accident. We really appreciate the services of those who have contributed to the company," he said.
He added that his party would provide compensation to passengers affected by this accident, which is in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation (Permenhub) Number 63 of 2019 concerning Minimum Service Standards for People's Transportation by Train.

In addition, Joni continued, in terms of delays in intercity train departures for more than 1 hour, passengers can cancel tickets and get refunds for all ticket fees.
