TKN: Prabowo-Gibran Will Establish The Indonesian Embassy In Palestine If He Wins The Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN), Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, said the candidate pair (paslon) Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka promised the establishment of the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Palestine.

Dahnil revealed this when responding to the high public support for Palestine which is facing Israeli aggression in Gaza. According to him, this will be one of the objects of discussion in the third presidential candidate debate.

"We think that all (pairs) candidates and the Indonesian people have one voice to support the Palestinian independence struggle. However, Prabowo-Gibran has a special program target, namely fighting for the existence of our Embassy (RI) in Palestine and appointing a special envoy to encourage the Palestinian independence process. It is in our vision and mission," said Dahnil in a written statement, Thursday, January 4, confiscated by Antara.

Prabowo-Gibran's commitment to establish the Indonesian Embassy in Palestine and appoint the special envoy, if elected to win the 2024 presidential election, continued Dahnil, is a symbol of Indonesia's consistency in Indonesia's diplomacy in fighting for Palestinian independence.

The spokesman for Prabowo Subianto also explained that the Indonesian Embassy, which is currently closest to Palestine, is the Indonesian Embassy in Amman, where the embassy functions not only as a carrier of the Indonesian diplomatic mission to the Kingdom of Hasyimiyah Jordan, but also concurrently as Indonesia's representative for Palestine.

"Palestinian independence is the mandate of the history and humanity of the Indonesian nation. Palestine is the only country to be present at the Asia Africa Conference in Bandung in 1955, but until now it has not been independent. So, Prabowo-Gibran will consistently have no diplomatic relations with Israel and strengthen diplomatic support for independent Palestine," explained Dahnil.

According to the Gerindra Party politician, if Prabowo-Gibran's dream to open the Indonesian Embassy in Palestine is realized, then Indonesia's role in defending Palestine will certainly be much more significant.

"We certainly know this is difficult, considering that today Palestine is still being invaded by Israel. However, we ask for the blessing of all Indonesian people, hopefully Prabowo-Gibran's great goal of building the Indonesian Embassy to support this Palestinian independence can be achieved," said Dahnil who is also the spokesman for the Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has received registrations for three presidential-cawapres candidates, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The election campaign period is set from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, while the voting is scheduled for February 14, 2024.
