JAKARTA - Deputy for Eradication of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) I Wayan Sugiri said 93 new types of narcotics originating from Mexico entered Indonesia.
"A total of 93 new psychoactive submissions (NPS) or narcotics of the new type are mostly from Mexico by mixing various types of narcotics depending on their concoction materials, then entering Indonesia," said I Wayan Sugiri after participating in a BNN year-end release in Jakarta, Thursday, December 28, which was confiscated by Antara.
According to him, of the 93 new types of narcotics, 90 of them have been identified and regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Health Number 30 and 31 of 2023. Meanwhile, three other types of narcotics are still under research.
Although he did not reveal where the illegal goods came from to the country, he confirmed that he would prepare a number of steps to anticipate the circulation of the new type of narcotics, one of which was by optimizing the function of narcotics laboratories spread across various regions in Indonesia.
"As of 2023, BNN RI already has a narcotics laboratory center in Lido, West Java, and four other narcotics laboratories in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra; Baddoka, South Sulawesi; Tanah Merah, East Kalimantan; and Bangkalan, East Java," he said.

Based on data compiled from the BNN RI Puslab in 2023, 22,183 samples have been tested, 21,531 of which were positive for narcotics, 9 psychotropics, 5 precursors, and 638 other samples tested negative.
In addition, BNN RI in collaboration with a number of parties will also strengthen cooperation in the use of the Early Warning System (EWS) as an effort as an early detection of narcotics trafficking.
