JAKARTA - Not a new car launch, Xiaomi EV, an automotive company from technology giant Xiaomi will host a technology launch event for its electric car on December 28, with a major focus on innovation.

Reporting from the Cnevpost page, Wednesday, December 27, the announcement was made through the new Weibo Xiaomi EV account, which displays a glimpse of the company's automotive aspirations for electric car technology.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun directly confirmed the news. This means that the confirmation from Xiaomi CEO dismissed previous rumors that Xiaomi's first electric car would make its debut later this year. Lei Jun emphasized the separation of technology events from product launches, creating differences that raise the question of whether this approach is a careful step.

Xiaomi appears to be following a common gradual launch strategy in the auto industry to draw attention to its first car.

Previously, the details of the Xiaomi SU7 electric car were revealed, with a length of 4,997 mm, a width of 1,963 mm, and a height ranging from 1,440 mm and 1,455 mm. This car is ready to be a competitor to the Tesla Model S and Nio ET5.

The Xiaomi SU7 battery, supplied by Chinese giants BYD and CATL, shows the company's commitment to reach and efficiency. With a capacity of 73.6 kWh and 101 kWh, Xiaomi covers a wide spectrum of driving needs.

The 73.6 kWh battery offers a range of 628 km to 668 km based on CLTC calculations, while the 101 kWh battery pack pushes the limit with an impressive range of 750 km to 800 km.
