320 Houses Submerged Due To Floods As High As 1 Meter In Rokan Hulu Riau
PEKANBARU - A total of 320 houses along with two public facilities in three villages in Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province, were flooded and a number of residents evacuated by the police to a safe place. Head of the Rokan Hulu Resort Police (Kapolres) AKBP Budi Setiyono helped evacuate two elderly residents (elderly) namely Sahar (93) and Yuslapi (63). Both are residents of Babussalam Village. "There are three villages that were flooded, namely Babussalam Village, Pasirpenagarian Village, as well as Pematang Barang Barangan Village. Two elderly we evacuated from flooded houses," said Budi Setiyono, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 27. Budi said that the two residents were trapped in the flood in his house, Tuesday afternoon (26/12). His party evacuated using rubber boats to Babussalam TK which were safe from flooding. He explained that the flood occurred due to overflowing water from Batang Lubuh River, Rambah District, Rokan Hulu Regency. The water level in Babussalam Village, he continued, reached 80 centimeters and submerged 140 houses. Then in Pasir Penaraian Village the water level reached 70 centimeters and submerged 110 houses. Meanwhile, in Pematang Panetang Village the water level reached 90 centimeters which affected 70 houses submerged in water.

Budi emphasized that there were no casualties in the natural disaster. However, his party asked residents to always be vigilant. Police personnel are also on standby at the location to look after residents. Not a few children and adults who play in water in flood locations can be dangerous, he said, so the police asked the children to leave the location and be careful when the river water rises again.
