KPU Records 1,502 ODGJ In Karawang Entering DPT 2024 Election
A total of 1,502 people with mental disorders (ODGJ) or people with mental disabilities in Karawang Regency are on the permanent voter list (DPT) in the 2024 General Election.
The chairman of the Karawang General Election Commission (KPU), Mari Fitriana, said that the number of voters among the ODGJ was sourced from a total of 6,697 voters for the 2024 General Election from people with disabilities in Karawang.
"Of that number, 1,502 people are people with mental disabilities or ODGJ," he said at the technical guidance event (bimtek) on collection procedures to calculating the results of the recapitulation of vote acquisition, in Karawang, Tuesday, December 26, which was confiscated by Antara.
Let's say that the persons with mental disabilities have been recorded and have been matched and researched (coclit), so that their names have entered the DPT in Karawang.
"They (people with mental disabilities) are owners of legal voting rights in the election later. They are scattered in a number of sub-districts in Karawang," he said.

He said that his party could not prevent people with disabilities from exercising their voting rights in the 2024 General Election. This is related to the Supreme Court Decision Number 135 / PUU-XIII / 2015 concerning the granting of voting rights for people with mental disorders or ODGJ.
According to him, during the voting, all voters from ODGJ will be accompanied by their closest family. Meanwhile, voters from ODGJ who live in a psychiatric disorders rehabilitation center will be accompanied by orphanage or foundation administrators during the voting.
"So later they (ODGJ voters assistants) will be given a special form provided by KPU officers," he said.
According to Mari, ODGJ, who is registered as a voter, is not the ODGJ that was found "flirting" on the highway, but they are listed as voters as people who have a history of experiencing mental disorders targeted by the Karawang KPU during coblit activities.
