Deontay Wilder Signs Retirement After Losing To Joseph Parker?
JAKARTA - Deontay Wilder hinted at retiring from professional boxing after the defeat to Joseph Parker at the Kingdom Arena on Sunday, December 24, 2023.
The United States boxer lost by a score of 108-120, 111-118, and 110-118. He threw a sign wanting to end his professional boxing career when interviewed by DAZN Sports on the edge of the ring after the duel.
However, he then posted the statement in a video upload on his personal social media. He insisted he wanted to come back and apologized for his defeat.
"We failed tonight. To be honest, I don't know what happened. My time was not right and I didn't take the shot the way I should have."
"Sometimes it's like that, but you can still watch other fights. You live to see other moments, that's the most important thing. I'm still full of happiness, I'm still full of joy, still full of smiles."

"Sorry if I let anyone down. However, we will come back again, that's great," said Wilder at the Daily Mail.
Wilder further emphasized the importance of family and he can't wait to go home and reiterated that his career is not over yet.
"I thank you very much for the love and support I got at Riyadh and all my fans around the world. I am grateful, I really appreciate you. This is not the end, we will come back," said Wilder.
Another reinforcing proof that Wilder will not be retiring comes as he commentes on the fight against Anthony Joshua.
"We'll see what happens. I still have a little left, but I did a good job managing my money," he said.
Rumors said this week that the 38-year-old had signed a two-fight contract to board the ring with Anthony Joshua, who beat Otto Wallin in the fifth round of another major event, next year.
"There are many conversations about many things (duel vs Joshua). We don't make excuses. We will definitely come back," said Wilder again.
However, the defeat against Parker makes the fight of Wilder vs Anthony Joshua seem difficult to materialize again.
