MeS Chairman Appreciates Gibran For Discussing SGIE
JAKARTA - The Islamic Economic Community (MES) appreciates the vice presidential candidates who have expressed their commitments to the sharia economy in the cawapres debate session. In particular, the appreciation was given to Gibran Rakabuming Raka who had revealed the sharia economy as one of the themes raised.
Gibran specifically reviewed the issue of SGIE or the State of the Global Islamic Economy. SGIE can be a reference for the development of a global sharia economy where Indonesia is trying to become the main sharia market in the world.
MES Chairman Erick Thohir assessed that commitment to the sharia economy was positive news from the vice presidential candidates.
"As Chairman of the Islamic Economic Community, I am very happy that this debate also discussed the sharia economy," Erick said in his statement, quoted on Saturday, December 23.
Erick also appreciated Gibran's idea of offending Indonesia's mission as a major player in the world sharia market. Indonesia, said Erick, must indeed become the main producer in the world sharia market supply chain.

"I am also happy and very appreciated Mas Gibran for discussing SGIE. As a candidate for the leader of a country with the largest sharia market, we really need leaders who understand and are committed to the sharia economy," said Erick.
Erick hopes that the rapid progress of the Islamic economy in the era of President Jokowi can continue in the next government. According to Erick, one of the legacy of Jokowi's government is a real commitment to the development of the sharia economy. This is evident from the growing Islamic economic ecosystem, ranging from banking to products that are consumed by the public on a daily basis.
"The Jokowi government's legislation in the sharia sector must be continued," said Erick.
