West Papua National Narcotics Agency Arrests 3 Methamphetamine Dealers In Manokwari Papua, Secures 19 Packages Ready For Distribution

WEST PAPUA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of West Papua Province arrested three suspected drug dealers and users of methamphetamine in Manokwari with the initials JS, AR alias Appa, and AG.

"The three suspects were arrested on December 22, 2023 after a day of investigation," said West Papua BNN Head Brigadier General of Child Police Agung Made Sudana in Manokwari, West Papua, Friday, December 22, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the evidence that was also confiscated during the arrest of the three suspects was 19 packages of crystal methamphetamine with a gross weight of approximately 14.17 grams.

The evidence of methamphetamine was sent from outside the West Papua region using an expedition service, so that the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) will carry out further developments.

"We arrested the suspect JS first, the team continued to move until the three of them were arrested," said Agung.

He explained that the suspect JS was charged with Article 112 paragraph (1) subsidiary to Article 127 paragraph (1) letter a and or Article 131 of Law Number 35 of 2009.

Suspect AR is subject to Article 114 paragraph (1) subsidiary Article 112 paragraph (1) or Article 127 paragraph (1) letter a and or Article 131 of Law Number 35 of 2009, the same as suspect AG.

"The threat of imprisonment for the three suspects is 5 to 20 years," said Agung Made.

BNN, he continued, continues to improve coordination with the Directorate of Drug Research at the West Papua Police and Customs to optimize efforts to eradicate illicit narcotics trafficking.

Synergy and collaboration are the keys to success in efforts to prevent the entry of narcotics throughout West Papua and Southwest Papua.

"Of course BNN does not work alone, we continue to build communication with the police and Customs," said Agung Made.

It should be noted that some of the evidence of methamphetamine was set aside for the benefit of the trial and the rest were immediately destroyed so as not to be misused.

The destruction of evidence was also attended by the Director of Drug Research at the West Papua Police, Police Commissioner Agustinus Fernando Indra Napitupulu, Head of Manokwari Customs, Didit Prayudi Sidharta, representatives of the West Papua High Prosecutor's Office, and Balai POM Manokwari.
