Highlights Alexander Marwata's Statement When Firli Becomes A Suspect, ICW: KPK's Public Communication Is Getting Worse
JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) submitted a number of notes to the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) today, Thursday, December 21. One of them is about public communication which was considered to be getting worse in the era of Firli Bahuri's leadership.
This statement was made by ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana after attending a closed meeting with the head of the anti-corruption commission at the 'KPK Hearing' event. The activity was carried out at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.
"Public communication is getting worse. We highlighted Alexander Marwata's statement when he said he was not ashamed when Firli was named a suspect," Kurnia said after the meeting.
In addition, Kurnia also highlighted Alexander's presence in the pretrial of Firli Bahuri at the South Jakarta District Court (PN).

It is known that the inactive KPK chairman filed a lawsuit against the Polda Metro Jaya because he did not accept being named a suspect in the alleged extortion or acceptance of gratuities from former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
Kurnia hopes that the anti-corruption commission will immediately improve even though he doubts that it will be carried out within a year and the composition of the same leadership. The forum that was carried out again after Firli was temporarily dismissed should not only be a ceremony.
"What we emphasize, don't just hear public criticism but do it," he said.
"Actually, this criticism is not new because it has been in the past since 2019 (we, ed) but it has not changed," continued Kurnia.
The 'KPK Hearing' event was also attended by the former KPK leadership on a different schedule. These two activities were attended by the Temporary Chairperson of the KPK Nawawi Pomolango and Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata.
