Anies Calls Moving The Capital City Not Eliminating The Threat Of Jakarta Drowning

JAKARTA - Presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan views that the transfer of the capital city from the archipelago will not solve Jakarta's problems from the threat of drowning.

"If it is related to problems in Jakarta, the problem in Jakarta will not be resolved if the status is not the capital city," said Anies at the AMIN national team's Christmas Safari event in North Jakarta, Wednesday, December 20.

Anies gave an example of a land subsidence case that had once threatened Tokyo, Japan. In dealing with this threat, the Tokyo City government made rules that limit water extraction.

Thus, the former Governor of DKI Jakarta views that the Jakarta government should be active in solving the problem of land subsidence.

"I gave an example of Jakarta being called a city that sank or was ranked as a city. If you look at the 70s, where is the city's ranking? Tokyo," explained Anies.

"Tokyo is called a city that sank. Is it still called? No. (The problem) is done. If there is a will to allocate resources, it can be resolved," he continued.

Then, if the government reasoned that the transfer of IKN to Nusantara, East Kalimantan was carried out to equalize development so that it would not be Javancentric, Anies also saw that it was not appropriate.

Because, according to Anies, the quality of infrastructure in other areas, including areas in Kalimantan other than the archipelago, is still lagging behind.

"In Kalimantan alone, how many schools in Kalimantan have a severely damaged status. (It's better) that the budget is for school repairs. In Kalimantan, first, there were a lot of people who did not have health center facilities," he added.
