Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Promises To Support Blockchain And Crypto Talents

JAKARTA - The candidate for Indonesian Vice President, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, promised to encourage the strengthening of talent in blockchain and crypto fields to provide more opportunities for the younger generation.

Gibran, who is also the Mayor of Surakarta, said in the campaign that the program he carries will provide opportunities for young people in the digital space. The couple from Prabowo Subianto's presidential candidate highlighted that it will develop future talents with the skills needed.

This digital support includes exploration in the realm of blockchain and crypto. During kamapnye, Gibran also said that he would prepare blockchain experts, crypto, and cybersecurity. In addition, Gibran also mentioned that he would prepare experts in artificial intelligence and digital marketing.

Gibran, who is also the eldest son of the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, is a partner for the Minister of Defense of Indonesia and the presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto. This 36-year-old politician is now competing to get the position of vice president, which will be decided in the Indonesian General Election which is scheduled to start on February 14, 2024.

Indonesia, is now a growing Web3 technology center, and continues to strengthen its push into the crypto world in 2023 despite previously banning crypto payments. On May 28, the Indonesian government restricted tourists dealing with crypto payments and stated that they would "be dealt with firmly," with penalties such as deportation or other criminal sanctions.

On July 21, Indonesia has launched its national crypto exchange, which local regulators will monitor. Now the platform will be the only place in the country where digital asset exchanges are considered legal.
