Israeli Military Claims To Kill Person In Charge Of Transfer And Money Exchange Of Hamas Groups In Air Attacks In Gaza
JAKARTA - Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet announced that a person in charge of transferring and exchanging money from the Palestinian militant group Hamas was killed in an airstrike against Gaza.
The figure in question is Subhi Farhanah. The IDF said he was killed in an air strike in Rafah, southern Gaza.
In a joint statement, Farhanah is said to have collaborated with his brother to transfer funds using currency exchange facilities for Hamas and its military wing over the past few years.
It said the Hamas military wing group was very dependent on the funds transferred through the exchange of money for its armed activities.
The moneymaker receives funds from Iran and other countries abroad, and launders them for Hamas while avoiding the international funding system, according to the Shin Bet.
"Farwanah is one of the leading few exchangers capable of transferring some of the money needed for fighting to the Hamas military wing," the IDF and Shin Bet said.
