Manchester United Plans To Reduce The Number Of Squads On The January Exchange

JAKARTA - Manchester United plans to wash the warehouse in the January 2024 transfer market. The Red Devils manager, Erik ten Hag, expressed his intention to reduce the number of squads.

The Dutch coach's decision was based on Man United's failure in European tournaments. The Red Devils did not qualify for the knockout stages of the 2023/2024 Champions League.

They were only caretakers of Group A with four points from one win, one draw, and four defeats.

That position also kicked Manchester United to have the opportunity to appear in the Europa League 2023/2024.

Practically, Manchester United only has to leave the 2023/2024 Premier League and the FA Cup after the turn of the year. No wonder, Ten Hag wants to wash the warehouse.

According to ESPN, Jadon Sancho is expected to leave after not appearing since August 2023 following a dispute with Ten Hag.

Last week, the Dutchman stated that there was still a way back for Sancho at Old Trafford if he apologized. However, it is likely that the England forward will leave in January 2024 if the appropriate offer is accepted.

Midfielder Donny van de Beek has also been listed on the nearest transfer market after only playing twice this season. The Red Devils are open to loan offers despite prioritizing a permanent deal.

So far, Van de Beek has attracted a number of clubs from Spain and Germany.

In addition, there is the name Sergio Reguilon who can be released early next year. Tottenham Hotspur is seriously permanent for the Spaniard.

As is known, Reguilon is undergoing a loan period in Spurs. He has a contract termination clause that allows him to permanent with Lilywhites in January 2024.

However, Manchester United does not want to be careless about Reguilon. They still need a coating for Luke Shaw who is in a hamstring injury.

In fact, Man United still has a Malacia chip. However, the Dutchman suffered a decline in performance and is still recovering from a knee injury which is expected to end in the new year.

Meanwhile, the strike post cannot be separated from the sector that will be overhauled. The Red Devils opened the potential to release Anthony Martial whose contract will expire in the summer or middle of 2024.

Finally, there are the names Raphael Varane and Casemiro. The two former Real Madrid are predicted to die Old Trafford as soon as possible in January 2024 or no later than the end of this season.

Varane has signaled his departure despite his first starting role this season when Man United face Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

However, the improving performances of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof made the French player uncomfortable.

In addition to reducing needs, Manchester United need to reduce the number of squads related to financial fair play. Releasing a number of players in January 2024 will ease the burden and at the same time make concessions to them in the final transfer window of the season.

Apart from that, Man United wants to open space to young players, such as Total Mejbri, Amad Diallo, Facundo Pelistri to enter the first team.
