KPK Names 11 Percent Of Suspects Alleged Corruption Are Women
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that there were 141 women who were suspects in cases of riots during 2004-2023. The modes vary, such as giving or accepting bribes or gratuities.
"KPK has processed the law of 1,648 suspects with 141 people or 11 percent of them are women," said KPK Director of Community Participation Development Kumbul Kusdwijanto in a written statement quoted on Thursday, December 14.
Kumbul said this data shows that corrupt practices do not know gender. He also said that this impetus practice rarely involves families such as husbands and wives, husband and children, or wives and children.
Thus, the KPK hopes that the family, especially couples, will become a bulwark for preventing corruption. Moreover, based on their survey, only 4 percent of married couples instill the value of honesty in their children.
"Looking at the number of women in Indonesia, we can be optimistic as long as women want to rise up against corruption. Therefore, this is why the role of women in eradicating corruption is very important," said Kumbul.
"This joint struggle will have a major impact on the welfare of society and the country," he continued.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Johanis Tanak said that women have three domestic roles to eradicate corruption, namely as wives, mothers, and parts of society.
As a wife, they can remind their husbands not to approach corrupt behavior. Meanwhile, as a community, continued Tanak, voicing anti-corruption against the surrounding environment can be done.

"Then as a mother, women are expected to be able to educate children to grow up with the values of integrity and anti-corruption individuals," said Tanak.
"The value of being honest, independent, responsible, brave, simple, caring, disciplined, fair, and hard work is what must be passed down to our children and grandchildren. So, when we enter the golden year of 2045, we can be free from criminal acts of corruption," he concluded.
