YouTube and Twitch Fined a Total of IDR 53 Billion by the Italian Communications Authority for Gambling Advertising

JAKARTA - The Italian communications authority, AGCOM, has fined Alphabet Inc's YouTube and Amazon's Twitch for allegedly violating rules prohibiting gambling advertising in the country.

YouTube and Twitch were fined 2.25 million euros (IDR 37.8 billion) and 900,000 euros (IDR 15.1 billion) respectively, AGCOM authorities said. They added that they had ordered the removal of more than 20,000 online videos promoting various types of gambling, including sports betting.

Both streaming services have commercial partnerships with video creators who publish content on their online platforms, according to AGCOM. The two companies did not immediately comment
