Trenggalek Firefighter Evacuation Of Pythons That Want To Prey Residents' Livestock

TRENGGALEK - The Fire Department (Damkar) of Trenggalek Regency, East Java, arrested and evacuated a python or python (Malayopython reticulatus) that entered settlements and allegedly wanted to prey on residents' livestock in Ngepeh Village, Tugu District.

"The fire department intervened after receiving complaints from residents," said Head of Prevention, Fire Management and Non-Fire at the Satpol PP and Fire Department Trenggalek Wasis Widodo Regency, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 7.

Information from officers and residents, the python was evacuated from the yard of Sutris' house, a resident of Ngepeh Village, Tugu District.

When the snake was evacuated, it was suspected that it was about to prey on livestock. After receiving the report, said Wasis, his party immediately dispatched a Wisanggeni team to evacuate the snake.

"The snake length is about two meters," he said.

The python was then evacuated to the Trenggalek Regency Fire Department for further release in an area far from residential areas.

The snake terror that entered the yard of a resident's house is not the first time this has happened. Since early December 2023, officers have evacuated three snakes, namely two pythons and one Javan cobra.

Wasis appealed to the public to be more vigilant, especially during the rainy season like today, and to maintain the cleanliness of the home environment.

"Reflecting on previous years, during the rainy season there was an increase in reports of snakes entering the yard of the house," he said.
