Three Earthquakes In Cianjur Today, Residents Of Cugenang And Pacet Scattered Out Of Their Homes

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur Regency is still collecting data related to the damage caused by the earthquake that occurred 3 times on Thursday, December 7, at 18.15 WIB.

Head of BPBD Cianjur Asep Sukma Wijaya said three earthquakes occurred three magnitudes (M) 2.8 at 16.59 WIB, M 2.9 at 17.56 WIB and the M 1.9 earthquake at 18.15 WIB.

"There have been no reports of damage caused by three earthquakes that occurred on Thursday evening, but a number of officers and volunteers were deployed to collect data and supervision at a number of earthquake-prone points such as Cianjur and Cugenang," he said in Cianjur, Thursday, December 7, confiscated by Antara.

Three earthquakes were felt quite strong in Cianjur, Cugenang and Pacet sub-districts. Residents scattered out of their homes to avoid unwanted things even though the tremors only occurred for a few seconds.

Asep said the three earthquakes were shallow, ranging from 5 kilometers to 11 kilometers centered in the Cugenang Fault.

BPDB appealed to residents not to panic and remain alert to aftershocks.

Meanwhile, residents in Cianjur District felt earthquake tremors that were quite strong twice even though the earthquake that occurred three times. Most of them had rushed out of their homes to avoid unwanted things, but after a few minutes they entered the house again.

"Had run out because of the earthquake that occurred at around 16.59 WIB and 17.56 WIB, it felt quite strong even though it was only a few seconds. If you say it is still traumatized, it is certain because we have not forgotten the earthquake that occurred a year ago," said a resident of Pamoyanan Village, Fauzi Noviandi.

Meanwhile, residents in Nagrak Village, Cianjur District, felt the same thing for an hour outside their homes when they felt the first and second earthquakes, but the third earthquake was not too felt so that residents returned to their homes.

"If the first and second earthquakes felt very strong, so we ran out of the house, we only dared to enter the house at around 18.00 WIB. If we know the third earthquake from social media and BMKG information, it doesn't feel much," said Nagrak Village resident Hadi Setiadi.
