Meratus Do This To Maintain Nature's Sustainability In Indonesia

JAKARTA - As an effort to support environmental conservation, Meratus as a company of Logistics and Maritime Integrators, also supports the planting of 1,000 trees in the Greening Season program organized by the Protect Forest Foundation.

The planting action of 1,000 trees has been successfully carried out in the Forest area of Cilangkap City, East Jakarta.

Head of Corporate Communication and Sustainability Meratus Ingrid Aurelia said this action was not only about planting trees, but also empowering employees to become agents of change in maintaining natural sustainability.

"Involving employees in this direct activity is a real step to increase our awareness and collective responsibility towards the environment," said Inggrid in his official statement, quoted Thursday, December 7.

Ingrid said that the planting of 1,000 trees in the Forests of Cilangkap City, Jakarta, was not the only attempt by Meratus in fighting for environmental sustainability.

"This is part of Meratus' commitment to the "We All Go Green" campaign which aims to restore green earth," he said.

It is known that since 2022, Meratus has taken concrete steps by planting 4,300 mangrove seeds, 100 orchid trees and bougenville flower trees spread across various locations in Indonesia.

"By contributing to these various actions, we hope to inspire various parties to participate in protecting and preserving nature. Meratus will continue to be committed to contributing to positive changes for the greener and more sustainable earth," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Miftachurrobani Forest Protect Foundation said that this year his party plans to plant trees in 22 locations spread throughout Indonesia, one of which is in Jakarta.

This action will be carried out during the rainy season which is the best waku to plant trees because trees can have a higher survival rate.

"This initiative is our concrete step in protecting forests and ecosystems that are very valuable to all of us. With the support in the form of trees and the presence of PT Meratus Line at the Cilangkap City Forest Planting Site, it will enrich our initiative this time," he said.

The trees planted in this action are Eboni, Mahoni, and Sengon. According to him, the tree was chosen because of its ability to absorb carbon and filter air pollution, provide long-term good for ecosystem health, and air quality.

"The importance of the role of trees in the ecosystem is the main basis for Meratus to be actively involved in tree planting activities," he added.
