558 ODGJ In Tangsel Get Vote Rights During The 2024 Election

TANGERANG - A total of 558 people with mental disorders (ODGJ) in South Tangerang (Tangsel) can cast their voting rights in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

Commissioner of the South Tangerang KPU, Planning, Data and Information Division (Rebain) Widya Victoria detailed, of the one million voters in South Tangerang, there were 558 ODGJ.

The total number of DPT that was set on June 21, 2023, was 1,022,237 voters. The number of DPT, the percentage of disabled voters was 0.23 percent or 2,381 disabled voters. Of the 2,381 disabled voters, 558 were mental disabilities or ODGJ," said Widya when confirmed, Wednesday, December 6.

Widya explained that ODGJ or disability still has constitutional rights. Therefore, they have the same right to elect their leaders in the 2024 election.

"Disability still has the same rights (and) can channel votes in the 2024 General Election. It is the same as other citizens," he said.

Meanwhile, for the mechanism on the D day of voting, continued Widya, voters first show their identity to the voting committee. After that, to enter the voter, assistance can be provided independently or non-independently.

"Meanwhile, non-independent companions provide assistance to enter the ballot booth, but before that, non-self-contained companions are required to sign a statement of assistance," he said.
