A Week Down To The Field, Garut Bawaslu Handles 9 Alleged Violations Of The 2024 Election

GARUT - The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) handled nine alleged violations of the 2024 General Election in a number of sub-districts in Garut Regency.

Head of Garut Regency Bawaslu Ahmad Nurul Syahid said the alleged violation was based on the results of supervision in the field for a week since the start of the campaign on November 28, 2023.

"Until now, we have carried out nine surveillance results in several areas in the face-to-face campaign agenda and campaign attributes," said Ahmad during a press conference on the results of the monitoring of the election campaign a week in Garut, Tuesday, December 5, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the KPU had set out the campaign stages for election participants from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, which were allowed to carry out face-to-face campaigns and the installation of campaign props in Garut.

During this week, he said, the Garut Bawaslu team and ranks from the sub-district panwaslu in all sub-districts in Garut carried out surveillance, resulting in nine activities receiving supervision and clarification by the team in the field.

"Today is entering the seventh day so we are making what we are doing in the sub-district ranks up to the village level, for seven days, namely prevention and strengthening enforcement," he said.

He mentioned that the handling of nine alleged violations of campaign activities in the field had all been clarified, such as the activities of election participants in madrasas, then face-to-face meetings that were not previously notified to Bawaslu or Panwaslu sub-district.

In addition, he continued, there was also the installation of campaign props for election participants by putting them on trees, for the case it was immediately clarified and firm action was taken by bringing it to order.

"For the matter of campaign props that were pinned on the tree, coordination with the Satpol PP was immediately taken into action," he said.

Ahmad conveyed that his staff continues to strive to prevent and strengthen enforcement in the election supervision agenda by mobilizing all strengths from the Garut Bawaslu ranks, sub-districts, to villages.

"Bawaslu Garut instructs all ranks to work optimally," he said.

Commissioner of the Prevention, Participation and Public Relations Division of Garut Bawaslu, Lamlam Masropah added, his staff also continues to disseminate information to all groups, especially the ranks of ASN, TNI, Polri and village officials to maintain neutrality in the 2024 General Election.

"Imbauan agar tidak membuat hal-hal yang tidak boleh dilakukan tentang kampanye pemilu, tentang hal-hal yang dilarang," katanya.
