2023 3X3 Basketball National Championship: DKI Jakarta Grand Champion

JAKARTA - The 2023 3X3 Basketball National Championship (Kejurnas) has been held at the Trans Studio Mall Makassar Atrium from November 30 to December 3 2023.

DKI Jakarta emerged as the overall champion after leading the medal tally in all age group categories contested by both men and women.

As is known, the 3X3 Basketball National Championship holds three age groups for men and women, namely KU-16, KU-18 and KU-22.

DKI Jakarta won gold and bronze medals in the men's KU-16 category. Meanwhile the women's team won a gold medal.

The KU-18 category doesn't want to lose. DKI Jakarta bagged a gold medal for the men's team and a silver medal for the women's team.

Finally, in the KU-22 category, DKI Jakarta took home bronze medals for the men's and women's teams.

The success of the Jakarta 3X3 basketball team received appreciation from the General Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta Perbasi Provincial Government, Lexyndo Hakim.

“Jakarta is always grateful for this achievement, being able to become the overall champion. Even though there is limited time for preparation and practice, the children can give their best abilities in competing. "They won medals in all categories in which DKI Jakarta participated," said Lexy.

Apart from that, Lexy also paid special attention to the host who succeeded in holding the 3X3 National Championship well.

There is a new history of this year's event, indicating that the development of Indonesian basketball is progressing positively.

"I appreciate the host of the 2023 3x3 National Championship, namely Makassar, in this case Perbasi Makassar City. "Appreciation to the general chairman, Mrs. Indira Yusuf Ismail, and of course thanks to the support from Jamin Mattotorang as Deputy General Chairperson of PP Perbasi," he said.

"There are three things I need to convey in this National Championship, namely competing to compete, sportsmanship and friendship. We can see that the matches presented are very interesting, even and entertaining."

"The presence of participants from North Sumatra who competed by sending their best teams. Participants from host country South Sulawesi managed to win gold medals in the men's and women's KU-22. "This is the history of Indonesian basketball," said CdM Indonesia at the 2023 SEA Games.

Apart from that, Perbasi DKI Jakarta also has hopes regarding the upcoming 3X3 National Championship.

Lexy is confident that PP Perbasi can hold the upcoming 3X3 National Championship better and more competitively than this year.

The timing of the National Championship must be carefully considered so that the participating teams can take part to the maximum potential.

"PP Perbasi's intention to hold the 3x3 National Championship has a very good aim. In the future, it's just a matter of how the implementation can be prepared in advance. If so, it is hoped that the participation level of participating provinces can be maximized."

"More careful consideration is also needed regarding the selection of the date for the National Championship so that it does not clash or be close to other national scale tournaments. "That way, the relevant players will have no difficulty participating in this 3X3 National Championship," said Lexy.

In the 2023 National Basketball Championship 3X3, not all provinces are taking part. It was recorded that only 13 provinces competed.

This is also provided that not all participating provinces send teams for all age categories to compete.

This means that the level of participation at the level of the 3X3 National Basketball Championship is not yet optimal.

However, PP Perbasi still appreciates the implementation of the 2023 National Basketball Championship 3X3, where Makassar is the host.

At least, this event can provide valuable lessons and boost the basketball ecosystem, especially in Makassar.

Meanwhile, FIBA 3X3 Asia Manager, Vivian Wang, who was also present to witness the 2023 National Basketball Championship 3X3 accompanied by the General Chairperson of PP Perbasi, Danny Kosasih, and Secretary General Nirmala Dewi hopes that 3X3 basketball events will become more widespread in the future.

"I have watched the match for the past two days and I am happy that this activity was held in Makassar. We hope that more 3×3 events will be held in various cities in Indonesia," said Vivian Wang.

A total of 13 provinces that will participate in the 2023 National Basketball Championship 3X3 include North Sumatra, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, West Java, DKI Jakarta, Bali, East Java, East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, and South Papua.
