Deceiving Victims Of Up To IDR 35 Billion, Rinahan Fraud Reseller IPhone Only Sentenced To 4 Years And Fined IDR 1 Billion

TANGERANG - The Tangerang District Court (PN) panel of judges sentenced the defendant Riana to 4 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion for the iPhone reseller fraud case.

The Panel of Judges assessed that the defendant Rinhana was proven to have committed a criminal act by deliberately spreading false and misleading news, resulting in losses to the public.

This is also in accordance with Article 45 Paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 28 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE).

"Imposing the sentence of Riana with a sentence of four years and a fine of Rp. 1 billion," said the Panel of Judges in the Tangerang District Court courtroom, Monday, December 4.

He continued, if the defendant Riana was unable to pay compensation of Rp. 1 billion, it would be replaced with 8 months in prison.

"If it is not paid, it will be replaced with imprisonment for eight months," he concluded.

Sebagai informasi sebelumnya Jaksa Penuntut Umum (JPU) menuntut si kembar Rinhana atas kasus penipuan jual beli iPhone dengan hukuman 5 tahun penjara dan denda Rp1 miliar.

So that the verdict given by the Panel of Judges against the defendant Riana was lighter than the prosecutor's demands.

The fraud case committed by Rinhana-Rihani has been reported since last year by the victims, namely in June-October 2022, with the nominal loss of the victim reaching Rp35 billion.

At least, there were more than 18 police reports about the crime committed by the twins.

The victims reported to various places, ranging from the South Tangerang Resort Police (Polres), South Jakarta Metro Police, to Polda Metro Jaya.

Rinhana-Rihani launched his fraudulent act with the mode of selling iPhones to resellers. Both use the preorder system to get customers.

The victims were promised to get an iPhone at a cheaper price than the market. However, the victim did not receive the promised item.
