Anies Wants To Care For Rengasdengklok History Houses Guaranteed By The Government

KARAWANG - Presidential Candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan wants the maintenance of the Rengasdengklok History House, which is located in Rengasdengklok District, Karawang Regency, West Java, to be guaranteed by the government.

Anies stated this after visiting Rengasdengklok on Monday morning. So far, he assessed that assistance for historic housing maintenance has been minimal from the government.

"This place cannot be left alone. We see that assistance must be given. At least the government can do it," said Anies in Karawang Regency as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 4.

Rengasdengklok's historic house is the location where the President and the first Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno-Hatta as well as the proclaimer of Indonesian independence was "culled" on August 16, 1946 by youths who urged that Indonesia's independence be accelerated. The history is also known as "Renggasdengklok incident".

Physically, according to Anies, currently the condition of Rengasdengklok's Historic House is fine and not worrying, because the families of the heirs take care of it independently.

The families of the heirs who took care of the house did not complain and continued to live a normal life.

Anies assessed that the government could actually provide assistance, such as easing electricity costs and land and building taxes, to distributing treatment assistance.

Thus, said Anies, the government also intervened to take responsibility for historical heritage.

Anies admitted that when he was governor of DKI Jakarta, he had guaranteed maintenance for a number of historical buildings in Jakarta, ranging from the Si Pitung Mosque, Immanuel Church, to the Mansur Teacher Mosque.

"That's all hundreds of years old. If they can't afford to renovate, it will be destroyed," said Anies.
