Defeat Japan's Representative, Dejan/Gloria Win Syed Modi India International 2023
JAKARTA - A satisfactory result was achieved by Indonesia's mixed doubles, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja at Syed Modi India International 2023. Defeating the Japanese representative, Yuki Kaneko/Simik Matsumoto, the Indonesian representative, came out as the champion.
Appearing at BBD U.P Badminton Academy, traveling on Sunday, November 3 afternoon, Dejan/Gloria inaugurated their inaugural title in the BWF Super 300 badminton tournament, as well as the first since Vietnam Open (BWF Super 100) 2022.
Dejan/Gloria's struggle to secure the title did not go smoothly, because they both had to fight in a match that lasted for 1 hour 35 minutes. The long effort then paid off with a final score of 22-20, 19-21 and 23-25.
The Indonesian mixed doubles ranked 18th in the world had lost first in the first game. Dejan/Gloria tried to catch up 10-15 to 18-18, 19-19, then 20-20.
In the second game, Dejan / Gloria fell behind again from the Japanese pair who occupied the 24th ranked in the world, 5-13. However, they again managed to equalize 16-16, 17-17, until they finally won this game and forced the rubber game.

In the deciding game, Dejan/Gloria lead 15-9, then 19-15. However, this time they are overtaken by 20-20.
The match became even more fierce, until finally the match ended in the 95th minute, with a score of 25-23 for the victory of the Indonesian pair.
This result also increased Dejan/Gloria's record advantage against Yuki/Misaki to 3-1. In the previous three matches, they recorded two wins.
Dejan/Gloria's victory also made Indonesia go home with one title. They were the only representatives who managed to reach the final in this tournament because four other representatives were eliminated in the early rounds, except for Alwi Farhan who ran aground in the quarter-finals.
