Negotiations On The Continuation Of The Humanitarian Jeda In Gaza Are Still Ongoing

JAKARTA - Qatar said negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians to restart the humanitarian break in Gaza were still ongoing.

In a statement, Qatar's Foreign Ministry said that Doha "expressed deep regret over the continuation of the Israeli aggression into the Gaza Strip after the humanitarian break ended, without any agreement to extend the pause," Antara reported by Anadolu, Friday, December 1.

The ministry emphasized that negotiations between the two parties continued to reach an agreement that could realize the pause again.

The statement also asserted Qatar "committed, together with its mediation partners, to continue efforts towards a humanitarian hiatus, and be willing to take any action necessary to restore calm."

The ministry stressed the continued bombing in the Gaza Strip in the first hours after the end of the break complicating mediation efforts and exacerbating humanitarian disasters on the line.

They called on the international community to move quickly to stop violence.

Qatar reiterated its criticism of all forms of targeting civilians, collective punishment practices, and any attempt to forcefully expel residents in the Gaza Strip.

Doha also demanded a ceasefire and guarantees that humanitarian aid could be distributed sustainably and without obstacles.

At least 32 Palestinians were killed and several others injured by Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip within three hours of the humanitarian break ending on Friday morning, the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said.

The pause between Israel and Hamas, which took effect on November 24, ended on Friday morning.
