Food Agency Involves BPS To Survey National Rice And Corn Stocks At The End Of 2023

The National Food Agency (NFA) cooperates with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) to conduct a 2023 rice and corn survey.

The survey was conducted to find out the final stock figures of valid rice and corn and updates according to reality on the ground.

Head of NFA Arief Prasetyo Adi said this survey was used as the basis for the preparation of food policies, especially rice and corn in 2024.

"This survey is designed to produce a valid and accurate stock estimate at the national level, which is very much needed to determine the condition of rice and corn stocks, both at home and outside the household so that they can be used by the government to formulate appropriate strategic policies for rice and corn commodities," he said in Jakarta, Friday, December 1.

According to Arief, valid year-end stock data is needed to ensure food availability in an area. So that efforts to meet national food needs can be realized.

Arief also expressed his appreciation to BPS because in October 2023, Corn Sampling Area (KSA) data was released. He is grateful that the results are in accordance with real conditions, not reduced and not exaggerated.

"For me, real conditions on the ground must be conveyed factually, so the role of BPS here is very important," said Arief.

As is known, for rice commodities, the National Food Agency and the Central Statistics Agency have also collaborated on a rice stock survey at the end of 2022.

We hope that this year will also produce more accurate, precise data. Thank you for the BPS' commitment to providing support for better survey methodology and sampling, by taking data at household levels, traders, milling, hospitality and industry, as well as Bulog," he said.

Furthermore, Arief hopes that intensive assistance from BPS can produce quality survey results so that the policies taken are right on target.

"The rice and corn survey is also expected to produce a one-data agreement as an effort to realize One Indonesian Data which is one of the national agendas," he said.
