Mahfud MD: We Choose Repair Roads

JAKARTA - The Vice Presidential Candidate number 3 MahfudMD confirmed that the road to improvement was the direction of the political movement he chose, namely not only making changes, but also not simply continuing.

"We don't categorically say, "wah, we have to make changes. No; what's changed? It still needs to be continued. We have to continue. Yes, not really, what's done, what's done? Something is not right, it's repaired; so we chose a path of improvement. Continuing and improving," Mahfud said in a meeting with "Young Friend Mahfud" in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, November 30.

He reminded that sudden changes are impossible because the Indonesian government has been sustainable since independence in 1945 until now. Therefore, it must be continued, he said.

However, said Mahfud, continuing development immediately is also impossible, because life requires a better change in the direction through a series of evaluations.

He also quoted the words of the philosopher Herakleitos as saying that life must flow.

"If it flows, it means that nothing has changed suddenly and nothing is missing. It continues to flow. In every stream there is foam. The seeds are what we throw away. In the future we open the channel with clean water," explained Mahfud.

According to him, there are many improvements that must be made by the Indonesian people, ranging from morals to law enforcement.

Mahfud said that currently policies in various sectors are good, but it needs to be improved so that it gets better.

Quoting the results of the Kompas Research and Development Exploration, which stated that the number of public satisfaction with the Government in the political and security fields reached 79 percent, Mahfud said that this achievement had shown a good direction but still needed improvement.

"Especially for the field of politics, the level of satisfaction is 79. Good? This is the best during the government. Later, we will fix it again, what was the problem yesterday, yes, we opened it so that it would be even better," said Mahfud.
