Presidential Candidate Ganjar Pranowo Visits Central PWI: Press Must Correct Information
Presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo attended the Central PWI invitation in the 2024 National Press Day (HPN) series at the Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidate Dialogue with the Central Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI), Thursday, November 30.
His arrival was greeted directly by the General Chairperson of the Central PWI, Hendry Ch Bangun and the Secretary General of the Central PWI, Sayid Iskandar at the Press Council Building, Jakarta. Ganjar Pranowo and his entourage arrived at 10.45 WIB.
There were also high-ranking officials of the Central PWI and editor-in-chief from various mass media.
Hendry Ch Bnagun said the Central PWI invited all presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the 2024 HPN series. Currently, the first presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo responded quickly to the Central PWI invitation.
"The presidential candidate number three is responsive, so he gets the first chance," said Hendry Ch Bangun in the main room of the Central PWI.
On the third day of his campaign, Ganjar said he was very happy to have the opportunity to be able to meet and have a direct dialogue with PWI which was filled by many senior and junior journalists.
The former governor of Central Java said that the role of the press is very important in conveying information to the public correctly and correctly.
He said, the media became two groups. Social media and mainstream media. Social media informs without journalistic ethics and cut it into pieces so that information becomes warped.
"This mainstream media must straighten out the twisted information to the public properly and correctly," said Ganjar Pranowo.
Ganjar hopes that in the future the information can be conveyed in full and correct. For example, Ganjar recalled after campaigning in Papua and it turned out that there was an information gap that was not conveyed.
"Young people there don't know who the presidential and presidential candidates will participate in the 2024 election and don't even know how many candidates there are. I myself don't know. This is the media's job to be able to convey comprehensive information to remote areas," continued the presidential candidate of the vice presidential candidate Mahfud MD.
Ganjar Pranowo also agreed with the statement that the Press is currently not doing well. Especially from the business sector which has undergone many changes from conventional media to digital media.
"Yes, indeed the press is not doing well at this time. One of the business sectors that has undergone changes from conventional to digital era. This is what must continue to be considered and the government needs to help the press so that it can be good," he said.

Ganjar Pranowo hopes that in the future PWI can continue to make better improvements according to their fields. Especially minimizing village officials or people who are in community organizations (Ormas) into journalists.
"I experienced a village apparatus or mass organization being a journalist. What motive is this? I'm complaining to whom? This is what PWI thinks will be able to fix later," said Ganjar Pranowo
