Tesla Opens the Door Wide for Other Electric Vehicles in China

JAKARTA - The presence of Tesla in China can not only be enjoyed by Tesla electric car owners, but also by owners of other brands of electric vehicles. In early April, Tesla started a pilot program with 10 supercharger stations and 120 other charging stations. And now, development is unstoppable.

Based on a report from ArenaEV, Thursday, November 30, Tesla announced that more than 350 of its supercharger stations and 260 charging stations can be used by non-Tesla vehicles throughout mainland China. This includes 38 models from 30 brands that can now enjoy the convenience of access to all networks, with the number continuing to grow over time.

Several well-known electric car brands from China that have joined this charging network include Nio ES6 and EC6, XPeng P7, Zeekr 001, Han and Tang BYD, Hiphi X and Z, Aion LX, and WM Motor EX5.

Although Tesla has more than 1,800 Supercharger stations throughout China, consisting of more than 11,000 superchargers, not all of them can be opened to other brands. However, progress continues to occur every week, with more than 700 Tesla charging stations in China offering more than 2,000 charging points.

This is good news for electric vehicle owners in China, making it easier for them to get EV charging sources. Although the tariffs imposed on non-Tesla vehicles are slightly higher, this is recognized as Tesla's contribution to supporting the growth of charging infrastructure in China.

Not to forget, on November 10, SAIC-GM, SAIC Motor's joint venture with General Motors, became a pioneer as the first automotive brand to access Tesla's charging network in China, proving that collaboration and progress continue to be the key to success in the electric car industry.
