Throughout July To November 2023, Kominfo Finds 96 Hoax Issues Related To Elections

JAKARTA - Throughout the period from July 17 to November 26, 2023, the Ministry of Communication and Information has found 96 election hoax issues spread across 355 content.

Minister of Communications and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi said that in November alone, there were around 39 hoax issues related to elections circulating on social media. That is, there is more than one hoax issue related to elections circulating every day.

"We have successfully taken down 290 content, while 65 other content is being processed," said Minister of Communication and Information Budi in a press conference held on Tuesday, November 28 at the Kominfo office, Jakarta.

From several social media, Facebook became the social media with the most hoaxes found, namely 312 content recommendations. Then followed by TikTok with 21 complaints, YouTube 17 complaints, Twitter 3 complaints, and Snack Video 2 complaints.

In anticipation of the spread of hoax content, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics in collaboration with the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) and the National Police, the forms of cooperation agreed among others are:

"Starting the 2024 election to remain peaceful and quality is the obligation of all of us as citizens of the nation. For this reason, we ask for the participation of all people to jointly support and realize the 2024 peace election for better Indonesia," concluded Budi.
