The Metro Police Chief's Message For The 2024 Presidential Election Campaign: The Most Important Thing Is That There Is No Use For Conflicting Understanding

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto said the important thing about the pattern of securing the campaign period in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) is to provide understanding to the public to maintain peace. Although different choices, unity must be maintained.

"Yes, now the most important thing is to understand grassroots. Fighting, dispute is useless," Karyoto told reporters, Monday, November 27.

Understanding to maintain peace is also to prevent polarization. It is hoped that there will be no dispute just because of differences of opinion.

In addition, the National Police also continues to urge the public not to be easily provoked. It is undeniable, during the time of the information campaign, which contained false news could be widely circulated in the community.

"Well, this is what we are trying to do, plant it to the public not to be provoked and all activities related to elections can be carried out in a polite manner. That is the most important thing," he said.

Not to forget, Karyoto also emphasized that his party, assisted by the TNI and other related parties, would help secure the five-year democratic party safely and peacefully.

"Now we have started to enter the phases, so what is our concern for the stages of the election that we secure optimally," said Karyoto.

The KPU has determined that the election campaign period will take place from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, while the voting is scheduled to be held on February 14, 2024.

In the 2024 presidential election, the Anies-muhaimin pair was promoted by the NasDem Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and the Ummah Party.

The Ganjar-Mahfud pair was promoted by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), the United Development Party (PPP), the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo), and the People's Conscience Party (Hanura).

Meanwhile, the Prabowo-Gibran pair was promoted by the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), the Golkar Party (Golkar), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Democratic Party, the Crescent Star Party (PBB), the Indonesian People's Wave Party (Gelora), the Garda Party of the Republic of Indonesia (Garuda), and the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), as well as the People's Fair and Prosperous Party (Prima) who did not qualify to participate in the 2024 General Election.
