Firli Bahuri Temporarily Dismissed, Jokowi Immediately Appointed Nawawi Pomolango As Acting Chairman Of The KPK

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed KPK Deputy Chair Nawawi Pomolango as acting (Plt) Chairman of the KPK. He replaced Firli Bahuri who was temporarily dismissed for being a suspect in the alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities from former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana said President Jokowi had signed a Presidential Decree (Keppres) today, Friday, November 24.

"President Joko Widodo has signed the Presidential Decree on the Temporary Dismissal of KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri as well as appointed Nawawi Pomolango as the Temporary Chair of the KPK," Ari said in a written statement, Friday, November 24.

Ari said that Jokowi signed this Presidential Decree after he landed in Jakarta from West Kalimantan.

"This Presidential Decree was signed by President Jokowi at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, Friday night, November 24 upon arrival from a working visit from West Kalimantan," he said.

Previously reported, Polda Metro Jaya has finished carrying out a case of alleged extortion or receiving gratuities from former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo. Firli was finally named a suspect.

Some of the pieces of evidence that became the basis for determining the suspect were witness testimony and electronic evidence. Meanwhile, the police have examined 91 people in this case. They include Syahrul Yasin Limpo, former aide to Firli Bahuri, Kevin Egananta.

Then there is the Semarang Police Chief Kombes Pol Irwan Anwar, the Director of Dumas KPK Tomi Murtomo, and two former KPK leaders Saut Situmorang and M Jasin.

Meanwhile, there are about 8 experts consisting of criminal law experts, micro expressions, and procedural law.
