Haedar Nashir: Really Lossful If Because Of The Election We Are Breaking As A Nation
SURABAYA - General Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive (PP) Haedar Nashir said that whoever the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs are elected in the 2024 presidential election will have a big responsibility in leading the Indonesian nation.
"Anyone who has the mandate of the people has a non-light responsibility, because it needs to bring Indonesia with all over the country," said Haedar when opening the Muhammadiyah Public Dialogue with the Candidate for National Leaders virtually at Muhammadiyah University (UM) Surabaya, East Java, reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 24.
Haedar hopes that the pair of presidential and vice presidential candidates will be able to prioritize the interests of the Indonesian nation above other interests, including the interests of dynastics.
Not only that, he also hopes that the elected presidential and vice presidential candidates can truly become statesmen, as well as carry out the Indonesian constitution.
"We hope that the presidential and vice-presidential candidates, apart from carrying out the constitutional ideals in leading ideals, truly becoming a true statesman. Not only the head of government, but also being the head of state who is upright above the interests of themselves, koronies, dynasties, and other narrow interests," he explained.
Haedar said Muhammadiyah's Public Dialogue was an effort to educate the nation's life.
Muhammadiyah opened communication space and discussions for the three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in providing their ideas to bring Indonesia forward.
Therefore, said Haedar, Muhammadiyah assessed that the election not only won the hearts of the people and held government positions, but also at the same time was able to carry the main mandate while occupying the position.
"Starting from realizing the vision and mission of the state in accordance with the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and the basic values of Pancasila as the Indonesian constitution. So, whoever is elected presidential and vice presidential candidates, is not only in his own ideals and vision and mission," he explained.
Haedar said the 2024 election can be maintained together so that it runs directly, in general, free, secret, honest, fair, dignified, ethical, and upholds truth, kindness, propriety, as well as being upright with all applicable rules.
"Different elections and contests should not be a place to synchronize the integrity of the nation, and any election does not tear the unity of the nation apart. It is a loss (if) because our election is broken as a nation," said Haedar.

As a community organization (ormas), said Haedar, Muhammadiyah prioritizes national politics through the figures who founded this republic.
He also hopes that in the next five years, elected leaders will be able to solve their own problems and serious problems of the nation, ranging from corruption, underdeveloped welfare, exploitation of natural resources, and heavy state debt.
"The problem is expected to be handled by a new leader with the responsibility and solve the system's problems," said Haedar.
According to him, leaders should be able to bring Indonesia into a modern country, and be able to stand equal, sovereign, and sovereign with other more advanced nations.
"We hope that in the future leaders can unite to mobilize the potential for how Indonesia will go forward in various aspects of life; but at the same time stand upright in the personality where religion, Pancasila, and noble life can be maintained," said Haedar Naashir.
