South Sulawesi UMP Increases 1.4 Percent To IDR 3,434,298 Per Month
Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Bahtiar Bahharuddin set the South Sulawesi Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) to increase by 1.4 percent from IDR 3,385,145 to IDR 3,434,298 per month.
"The UMP for South Sulawesi 2024 is IDR 3,434,298 per month consisting of basic wages and fixed benefits," said Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Bahtiar Bahharuddin in Makassar, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 21.
Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Bahtiar Bahharuddin admitted that he was considering the demands of workers/laborers.
"We took this decision from the recommendations of the South Sulawesi Wage Council with several options. We took the highest option, so this is the highest limit. The highest option for the UMP is based on three options for the number proposed by friends on the Wage Council," he explained.
He conveyed that the UMP in question applies to workers or laborers who have less than one year of service.
The minimum wage is excluded for Micro Enterprises and Small Businesses based on an agreement between employers and workers in the business concerned with a provision of at least 50 percent of the average public consumption at the provincial level or the agreed wage value of at least 25 percent above the poverty line using data sourced from authorized institutions in the statistic sector.
Other decision points, workers or laborers who have more than one year of service and so on, employers are required to implement Wage Structure and Scale (SUSU).
"Hopefully our decision is the most complete, with the minimum wage we arrange, but we add the importance of paying attention to the structure and scale of wages for those whose working period is more than one year," he said.
Another decision, in SK Number 1671/12/2023 as of November 21, 2023, regulates that employers are prohibited from making wages lower than the 2024 UMP. In the event that employers who do not comply will be subject to sanctions.

Head of the Manpower and Transmigration Service (Disnakertrans) Ardilles said that the decision taken was through a long process and through considerations from all parties.
