JAKARTA - TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono reiterated that the Indonesian National Army from the start has always been neutral and committed to remain so during the general election stages from 2023 to 2024.
Even though the TNI from the start was neutral and neutral, Yudo said various steps to anticipate violations during the political year were also carried out, one of which was opening a complaint post so that people could immediately report when they found TNI soldiers who were not neutral.
"Right now, to anticipate from the start, we are committed to the TNI being neutral, neutral, neutral. In fact, to maintain public trust, we also set up posts (aduan, ed.) in all TNI (units, headquarters, offices) to also monitor each other," said Admiral Yudo during a press conference at the inauguration of the TNI Netrality Complaint Post at the TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 20.
He said the complaint posts scattered throughout Indonesia were to make it easier for the public to report. Not only can the public report directly, but the public can also report findings of violations through TNI social media channels.
Yudo emphasized that he had instructed his staff regularly about the importance of being neutral. On various occasions, Yudo reminded the soldiers of the five neutral attitudes of the TNI.
Five neutral attitudes of the TNI, namely first, are impartial and do not support any political party and the pair of candidates who are promoted and do not involve themselves in practical politics.
Second, it does not provide facilities for places / infrastructure belonging to the TNI to candidate pairs and political parties to be used as a means of campaign.

Third, families of TNI soldiers who have the right to vote as citizens are prohibited from giving directions in determining their right to vote.
Fourth, do not provide responses, comments, and upload any temporary quick count results issued by survey institutions.
Fifth, take firm action against TNI soldiers and TNI civil servants who are proven to be involved in practical politics, favor and support political parties and supported pairs of candidates.
"Alhamdulillah, until now there has been no violation of the TNI, nothing yet, and hopefully I hope it doesn't exist because from the beginning the TNI leaders have given the doctrine, have given directions, have given emphasis, including the suppression of the TNI Commander, the five (guided) neutrality," said Admiral Yudo.
