Firli Is Considered To Have Dragged The KPK Regarding The Allegation Of SYL Extortion, Novel Baswedan: Even Though He Is The Problem!
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is considered to have been dragged into the alleged extortion case of former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. In fact, this institution should have no problems because the real problem arose from KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri.
In my opinion, Firli is insulting the KPK. In his statement, Firli suggested that it was as if the KPK was having problems, even though Firli was the one with problems with alleged corruption," said former KPK employee Novel Baswedan to reporters, Monday, November 20.
Novel assessed that other KPK leaders should be angry with this condition. Moreover, this institution seems to be a shield for Firli.
"Other KPK leaders should be angry, when Firli uses the KPK to take cover when he is about to be charged with a crime for his own actions," he said.
"Besides, until now we have not seen any KPK employees or anti-corruption activists who defend Firli, if it is true that there is a corruptor fight back," continued Novel.
Previously reported, KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri confirmed that he would not resign even though he was suspected of being involved in the alleged extortion of Syahrul. He even accused this case of being an attempt by corruptors to fight back the ongoing legal process at his institution.
"Personally, I have never felt disappointed with anyone, including never being disappointed with the state because in principle the state needs the best service of all the nation's children and all law enforcers not to step down from one point of view about ignorance. Especially facing the counterattack of corruptors," Firli said at a press conference at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, November 20.

Firli also claimed that he had never blackmailed or received gratuities from anyone. Including, Syahrul, who is currently being held at the KPK Detention Center.
"I stated at every opportunity that I have never extorted anyone and I have never been involved in bribery and gratuities to anyone," he said.
To note, Firli has undergone his second examination on Thursday, November 16. The Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak said there were 15 questions asked by investigators.
It was not clearly stated what investigators studied from the dozens of questions raised. Ade only emphasized the investigation process to investigate allegations of extortion and or receiving gratuities.
