The Indonesian Government Is Considered To Have Played A Quite Good Role In Supporting Palestine
JAKARTA - Lecturer of the State Islamic University (UIN) Alauddin Makassar Abdul Rauf Amin said, the Indonesian government has played a fairly good role, namely through diplomatic channels to voice the termination of armed attacks on Palestinians carried out by Israel. According to Abdul Rauf, Indonesia needs to actively continue to encourage the loss of Israeli military aggression against Palestine. "I think Indonesia has played a fairly good role. This is shown by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia which is very loud at the United Nations to voice support for Palestinian independence," Abdul said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday 15 November. Furthermore Abdul Rauf said, there are many ways to express concern, support, and solidarity with Palestine. Abdul continued, it must be echoed in a proper way. There are some parties who show their concern in a way of demonstration. As long as this is done wisely, of course there is no harm. However, in my opinion, a more effective way is how we as an Indonesian state activate the path of diplomacy that we have," he said. Abdul did not see any effectiveness of the boycott of products that are considered affiliated with Israel. According to him, haphazardity will actually harm the Indonesian people themselves. "For example, as a trading Muslim, I have minimarkets or supermarkets. If Muslims also boycotted the things that became my trade, it would actually not boycott Israel, he boycotted me and harmed me. If it continued, it would be counterproductive, "said Abdul Rauf.

The most effective boycott, he said, should be done before the Israeli-affiliated goods enter Indonesia. The Indonesian government can take a stand, for example, by closing imports of production from Israel if it still attacks Palestine.
