Coordinating Minister Airlangga: Business And Human Rights Strategy Is A Tool To Encourage The Indonesian Business Climate

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto conveyed that the National Strategy (Stranas) for Business and Human Rights (HAM) can be an effective tool to support the business and investment climate in Indonesia.

"The business and human rights stranas can be an effective tool to support businesses and investments that prioritize human rights in Indonesia and increase the country's competitiveness," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 7.

In the context of protecting human rights, especially in the business sector, Coordinating Minister Airlangga said the government had ratified Presidential Regulation Number 60 of 2023 concerning the National Strategy of Business and Human Rights.

The National Strategy of Business and Human Rights is a national strategy in encouraging the creation of human rights-friendly businesses and drawn up with the principles of non-discrimination, equality, participation, accountability and openness principles.

"At the global level, Stranas Bisnis and Human Rights Indonesia is the first national action plan document for business and human rights in the world to be ratified through the framework of laws and regulations regulations, namely Presidential Regulation," he said.

He explained that Stranas Bisnis and HAM have three main strategies, namely the first to increase understanding, capacity, business promotion and human rights.

Second, the development of regulations, policies, and guidelines that support human rights protection and respect.

And third, strengthening an effective recovery mechanism.

One of the mandates in the National Business and Human Rights Stranas is the establishment of a Task Force both at the national and regional levels. For this reason, I congratulate the establishment of the National Business and Human Rights Task Force which has just been inaugurated and urge the Regional Government to immediately form and inaugurate the Business and Human Rights Regional Task Force," said Airlangga.

Airlangga added, there are other things that need to be considered in fulfilling human rights, namely the implementation of public services to the community, especially vulnerable groups such as the elderly, disabled, children and pregnant and lactating mothers.

The Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) itself has regulated the criteria and indicators of Human Rights-Based Public Assessment for work units in providing services.
